You shouldn’t lie, especially not to yourself. And if you lie to others, you will lie to yourself, because your brain is using similar neural patterns for both. One mind

Furthermore, so long as you’re pretending, you’re living the life of someone you’re not (I do mean lying, not fake it until you make it where you build yourself to get there).
In these cases, you’re not actually yourself. You’re not building skills.
It’s working against the system, often.
Lying can make outcome that shouldn’t happen, happen. A job that’d fit someone else better. A meeting that doesn’t really work for you time wise. You may think it’s fine, but this will erode trust, and your reputation. And your reputation is what will actually get you the right job. Job paths

Most of the time, lying isn’t malicious. We just tell ourselves some things that aren’t true and don’t realize. Or don’t listen to the voice of reason within ourselves. The wise listen to that voice.
The one time where you could justify lying is to protect others’ self esteem, when they don’t have this mindset. White lies, as they are called.
