why I deleted my social media accounts will give context on why I’m not a fan of social media in general and want to change this.
Now as for how to do it, there are multiple approaches:
- I cannot see a way to do it using social media against itself that would really work. And I want to get away from it, not be a getaway influencer.
- One could hack it, sure. Bring it offline long enough for people to break their addiction. But that is a last resort.
- Or we can use the real world itself and change people by talking to them, I think this is most effective if you know how to do it right.
The one I will choose is the third.
But how to make people talk about it? When they ask if I have instagram, and I say I deleted it, they will ask why. I believe the best strategy would be to tell them “you already know why.” But I cannot just ask them “why don’t you” or they will get defensive with pre-existing ideas.
Anyhow another way to get them to talk about it and to make it more viral is to use pins. Big pins so people notice. I asked an artist to make me some illusion art that conveys my message: instagram is addictive, illusory, not of the real life.
That instagram robs you of your power, that the algorithm is meant to steal your free time from you, using advanced AI and spying on your instagram messages, whatsapp metadata, and behavior during scroll.
That it prevents you from having free time and thinking properly. That it is too strong and too well designed against you by manipulation experts
Would this be enough to get people off the drug? I think if I give away pins, maybe.
