Quite an interesting read. It speaks to a very real issue: how much meaning is there in progress, really, and how much happiness? Easy to just run ahead, carried by inertia, forgetting those things — but we shouldn’t, because what else even matters?
It also helped me grasp the connection between the different religions, same as reading the bible did — the God of all the major religions is the same, only the practice and culture change. See beyond the differences: that God is good, but can be misused, has been, so don’t ever let it be. Or we end up with a society believing in nothing.
No matter what, government by its very nature — and human nature — will have people trying to profit from it, grow corrupt, defile their station. Systems can guard against that, but the real fix is sharing a common vision across the populace and not growing too distant from each other.
Mahomed’s vision and action is a good thing to keep in mind: respecting other beliefs and religions.
